The lowest day rate does not necessarily deliver the lowest well cost.
Drilling duration is one of the key variables in well construction cost. Every additional day extends expenditure on the rig and associated services charged on a time basis. We therefore focus on the economics of the complete operation, not simply the price of an individual day or a record rate of penetration.
For us, drilling is a craft strengthened by engineering. Skilled people, reliable equipment and modern technology must work towards one outcome: an executed programme, a quality well and justified expenditure for the client. We aim to reduce avoidable time losses, not safety or quality requirements.
Technical readiness before the first metre.
A strong drilling culture starts with rigorous attention to equipment condition. A rig matched to the project, planned maintenance, inspections, testing and the readiness of critical components form the foundation of reliable service. Our priority is to prevent failures rather than respond with emergency repairs.
The bit and BHA as one engineered system.
We select drill bits and bottomhole assemblies for the geology, trajectory and objectives of each interval. We consider not only rate of penetration but also footage per run, tool life, vibration and the risk of an unplanned trip. A gain over a single metre should not become a loss of several days.
Turning power into performance.
Hydraulic capability is more than a pump horsepower rating. It requires a coordinated circulating system: appropriate flow and pressure, suitable drilling-fluid properties, effective bottomhole cleaning and cuttings transport within allowable pressure limits. The bit, BHA, fluid and drilling parameters must work together.
Experience grounded in the specific project.
We value experience that helps anticipate problems, not merely react to them. Before operations begin, the team must understand the geological section, well design and trajectory, offset-well results and potential complications. Professionalism is demonstrated through preparation, coordinated execution and timely adjustment of decisions using actual data.
Every well should add to our knowledge.
For us, the learning curve means systematically transferring experience within a field and a project. Our principle is to record actual parameters and results, investigate the causes of time losses, retain successful solutions and incorporate them into the next programme. Knowledge must not remain confined to one shift, one crew or one specialist.
Craftsmanship evolves with technology.
Drilling evolves alongside materials, electronics, downhole measurements and digital tools. We regard modelling, automation and artificial intelligence as ways to strengthen engineering work: analysing data, planning operations and identifying risks. We judge a technology by its verified practical value, not its novelty. Engineering accountability remains with people.
NGB combines its own drilling fleet and the practical experience of its team with international professional relationships, knowledge exchange and leading global practices. We welcome collaboration with strong teams, continue learning and refine our approach so that modern knowledge becomes better decisions at each well.
Drilling is the craft of skilled people, the precision of engineering and a commitment to continuous improvement. Every day matters.
